“Are We Losing Our Minds? The Global Decline of Rational Thought”

ree

From Facts to Feelings: The Societal Shift Away from Logic. I believe our minds naturally feel more comfortable following the opinions of others — it feels safe. Taking time to sit with an idea can lead to more logical thinking, although the human brain is often driven by emotion and irrationality. Imagine sitting with your own thoughts long enough, without the shortened attention span and manufactured impressions from social media, news reports, and the opinions of others clouding your judgment. It’s unsettling — even scary — but imagine the truth that could unfold.

The cage doors we’ve locked ourselves behind would open, and the manipulative systems — politics, media, and the world around us — would become far more visible.

Yes, this would likely make us feel deeply uncomfortable. But in allowing the raw truth to emerge, the protective shield of the "herd mentality" would begin to fall away.

Even intelligent people can be brainwashed into flawed patterns of thinking — not because they are stupid, but because they are human. We all crave safety, connection, and a sense of belonging.

It doesn’t just take intelligence to think logically — it takes courage. It takes someone brave enough to sit alone with their thoughts and examine something for what it truly is.

We live in a world where everything is supposedly backed by "facts and science," yet very few people actually understand either. Many have built their entire identities around their views or the opportunities those views bring — and that’s detrimental to society. Thinking logically isn’t encouraged — but it should be. You owe it to yourself, and to the evolution of humankind.
