Cravings vs. Control: Winning the PMS Battle

ree

Let’s Talk PMS, Pizza Cravings, and the Pursuit of Energy 🍕🍫😴

Anyone who knows me even slightly well knows that I’ve been battling with PMS for what feels like forever. Honestly, most months it hits me like clockwork—and not in a fun, organized way. So today, after work, all I wanted in the whole world was a big, greasy pizza and an entire bucket of chocolate brownies. (And yes, in case you’re wondering—I did buy them. Just in case.)

But let’s talk about the real kicker: fatigue. The week before my period, my energy levels absolutely tank. I’m talking full-blown zombie mode. And I’m so tired of telling people I’m tired. Like, isn’t there a more exciting way to say, “I feel like I’ve been steamrolled by life”?

Here’s the frustrating bit: I should be bouncing off the walls with energy. I eat well, get decent sleep, drink loads of fancy spring water (none of that tap nonsense), avoid hangovers like the plague, and I’m on my feet working 9 hours a day, 4 days a week. I even squeeze in workouts whenever I can.

So you'd think my body would reward me with Beyoncé-level stamina, right? Wrong.

Thanks to the delightful hormonal crash—aka estrogen and progesterone doing a dramatic nosedive—I end up feeling like I’ve been hit by a bus… after downing four bottles of red wine. 🫠

Now, I’m not throwing in the towel on my healthy lifestyle. In fact, I recently found out my folate levels are a bit low (which explains part of the exhaustion). So I’ve been loading up on spinach and leafy greens like a proper wellness influencer—minus the perfect lighting and smoothie bowls.

And to be fair, there have been wins! My mood is miles better. I’m far less anxious, and while I still get tired, I’m not battling that all-consuming PMS fog that used to make even leaving the house feel impossible. So, here’s my little PSA: I want to be honest about my experience with health and hormones. For me, switching to a cleaner, more nourishing diet has made a big difference—especially with managing those monthly hormonal curveballs. There’s still more work to do, but progress is progress.

If you're dealing with something similar, my advice?

Start by looking at your diet and lifestyle. Cut the processed junk, ditch the unhealthy habits, and give your body a fighting chance. You might be surprised by how much better you feel.

And if you’re still struggling? Don’t tough it out alone—talk to a healthcare professional.

Because at the end of the day, health really is wealth.

Put it at the top of your priority list. ❤️
